Since the foundation of the Annual Music Competition in 1952, music has always been at the heart of what we do. Our musical offering continues to grow and we now present a year-round programme of concerts at Over-Seas House, as well as at venues around the UK.
The highlights of the musical calendar are the Annual Music Competition, our Composition Award and our season of individual concerts and recitals.
Established in 1952, the ROSL Annual Music Competition is the flagship of the arts programme. With an increasingly international reach, hundreds of talented young musicians apply each year to compete for over £70,000 in prize money.
We have a long history of commissioning and programming contemporary work and we are excited to build on this tradition with our Composition Award in association with London Sinfonietta and Birdsong, which seeks to give those behind the music a chance to shine.
We support young musicians overseas through various programmes, including our New Zealand Scholarships for young musicians, and our work with the National Youth Orchestra of Kenya.
Our outstanding and unparalleled programmes offer our competition prize-winners, lovingly referred to as our ROSL Alumni, an artistic ‘home’ with mentorship and advice, networking, promotional support and concert opportunities around the world.
From those crucial early career stages in a challenging industry to becoming part of our family of creatives who continue to connect with us throughout their careers, we are there for them.
