For over 70 years, ROSL has developed and hosted internationally renowned programmes for emerging musicians and visual artists.
We run annual competitions, scholarships, residencies, concerts, events and exhibitions from our clubhouse in central London, open to entrants across the Commonwealth, USA and Europe.
ROSL is unique in having in house arts facilities including a professional concert hall and exhibition spaces which are utilised for our diverse artistic programme throughout the year.

For over 70 years, we has developed and hosted internationally renowned programmes for emerging musicians.
Launched in 1984, ROSL’s visual arts programme provides support and exhibition opportunities for emerging visual artists.
Our industry-renowned Annual Music Competition awards over £70,000 in prize money every year to emerging musical talent. Our team work to offer mentorship and further performance opportunities for our prize winners, who join our family of exceptional musicians.
This biennial competition offers six young professional composers the opportunity to workshop a short original work with the London Sinfonietta, with one winner being awarded a commission to compose a piece for a London Sinfonietta concert.
We present an annual exhibition programme displayed in our Central Lounge and Gibbs staircase area. Focusing on emerging talent, exhibitions often include partner organisations such as the Royal Association of British Artists, Sotheby’s Institute of Art and Penguin Publishing.
Each year, two Commonwealth artists receive a fully funded, two-month visual residency at The Art House, Wakefield to work on their creative practice and development along with the opportunity to meet industry figures in London, attend Frieze and exhibit at The Art House.
A biennial competition to find and promote the finest photographic talent. Our third competition in 2023 garnered over 3150 entries from over 80 countries and culminated in an exhibition of the 20 shortlisted entries at Over-Seas House.
Alongside the Pettman Scholarship and our artist in residence programme, ROSL supports the National Youth Orchestra of Kenya, with our prize winners working alongside the orchestra each year.
ROSL’s prestigious annual arts programme has been established for over 70 years. Principally funded by the ROSL Foundation and membership and clubhouse operations, we also rely on the generosity of our Arts Patrons alongside donations and sponsorship from other sources.
Refurbished as a professional concert hall in 2006 by Bryan Avery Architects, the hall seats up to 150 in concert format and has Steinway D & B pianos and a superb A/V system with integrated HD cameras and Rode TF5 microphones for recording, filming and live streaming.
